Intro to River Safety

Safety First… Have fun while learning valuable water sports skills

This introductory course is designed to teach you the foundational safety skills that you need to travel in moving current as safely as possible.

We have designed this course with the beginner in mind, to provide a fun environment while learning skills that can help rescue yourself and others. Skills can be taught while using a wide range of paddle crafts including canoes, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and more. This course offers excellent team building activities for groups such as, families, schools, churches, and scouts. It can be taken alone or as part of our Complete Whitewater Sampler Package.

Over the course of 8 hours, you will learn: Recognition and avoidance of common river hazards, execution of self-rescue techniques, and simple rescue of paddlers in distress. Emphasis is placed on both personal safety and on simple, commonly used skills.
